Otherside Goes Native on Mac—And My MAYC Just Walked Into The Swamp
What’s new
Mac launcher & client – No more pure in‑browser session for me; I installed a native client via the site’s launcher. Expect smoother input and higher fidelity. (ODK has supported packaging/auto‑updates; community is now pointing to a Mac launcher.) (Otherside Developer Kit Docs, X (formerly Twitter))
Avatar selection via Yuga ID – Log in, connect a wallet (Warm/Delegate OK), and the Web Avatar Overlay lets you pick from supported NFTs. (Otherside, Otherside Developer Kit Docs)
Playable collections – Historically: BAYC, Murtis for MAYC, Meebits, Voyager fallback. In my new build I’m selectable as my own MAYC and can also switch to G’s on Ape—suggesting broader first‑party + partner support at runtime. (Dev docs still list the baseline set; your mileage may vary by world.) (Otherside Developer Kit Docs, Bored Ape Gazette)
“Bubbles” is a thing – The ODK changelog literally notes Bubbles content moved into its own template. The launcher shows “Bubbles Event – August/September 2025,” which tracks. (Otherside Developer Kit Docs)

Worlds & games to try right now
The Swamp (Yuga World) – Social hub vibe, BAYC‑themed interiors, jukebox, emotes—great place to test your avatar and meet people.
Bathroom Blitz (8v8) – Fast rounds, third‑person shooter built with the ODK; great stress test for your rig and aim.
Bubble Spaces – Short, shareable moments (and occasionally wild physics).
Community avatars – G’s on Ape are fully rigged and playable across multiple spaces. If you hold one, try swapping in real time.
🚀 Quick start (Mac)
Go to launch.otherside.xyz and grab the Mac launcher.
Sign in with or connect with your wallet.
Launch The Swamp and open Avatar → pick your NFT.
If performance dips, open Settings → Graphics and step down from Epic to High; set a frame limiter if needed.
Screenshot or Koda‑Cam your moment (dev builds ship selfie tooling). (Otherside Developer Kit Docs)
Why this matters
Otherside’s pivot toward native clients + ODK signals a proper live‑service foundation: user‑generated worlds, NFT‑gated areas, and portable avatars. Bathroom Blitz proved the pipeline; Bubbles content and growing collection support keep the loop lively. (Otherside Developer Kit Docs)
