Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light Review

We caught the "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light" in theaters yesterday, and it was a nostalgic thrill ride. The film brings the characters from the anime series to the big screen with high stakes and a new villain connected to the ancient Egyptian lore of the Millennium Items. After winning yet another duel, Yugi receives a mysterious artifact from the Domino Museum that unleashes the spirit of Anubis, threatening both the real world and the Shadow Realm.

Kiaba and Anubis

The animation quality feels like an extended episode with a budget boost—more dynamic dueling sequences and polished monster designs. Fans of the trading card game will appreciate seeing favorite cards like Dark Magician, Blue‑Eyes White Dragon and new cards created for the film. The story is straightforward: Yugi and his friends must defeat Anubis by playing through a high‑tension duel, emphasizing themes of friendship and courage. As a long‑time fan, I enjoyed the film for its nostalgia and action, though it may be less engaging for newcomers unfamiliar with the series. Overall, it's a fun cinematic outing that celebrates the appeal of Yu‑Gi‑Oh! at its early 2000s peak.
